Season 39 Quarterback Annual  2nd Edition

Welcome to the 5th installment of the MBL BR PFF positional analysis! I’m Gamemasterrke and I’m the author of the analyses with help from the stalwart MBL BR team. This week we will be focusing on the most important position on the field, the quarterback. The objective of this analysis is to look at more than just yards and tds (though they are very important) to determine who the best quarterbacks in the league are. In this article we will look at the whole picture in order to see which QBs mean the most to their teams and what kinds of data we can use to separate them. This analysis will attempt to bring all factors into play when considering how effective each player is. We will look at the top 31 QBs (min of 100 pass attempts) in the MBL Season 39 and highlight some interesting points.

Before we begin it's important to explain what this is and how the rankings were calculated. A total of 7 parameters were used when calculating each QB’s PFF score. Each parameter was scored and weighted based on the PFF importance of that parameter to the overall success of a QB. Of the parameters used some were weighted much higher than others. Here are a couple examples of the stats used:

I believe the most important stat for QBs in the MBL is TOs, more specifically interceptions. The ability to take care of the football often separates the good players from the great and certainly shows who the bad are. It’s also common for QBs to put up empty or meaningless stats in games that are a mismatch or when things get out of hand. Therefore stats such as yards and completions are weighted much less in this analysis. Touchdown to Interception ratio was the most important stat and was thus weighted the highest. The second most important (tied) is QB Rating which takes into account the aggregate of all the major passing stats for QBs and is important for getting a quick idea of who is good and bad as well as total TDS. In the end, each quarterback was given a PFF score based on all parameters, without any further ado here are the top 5:
