Our season has finally come to an end after a lot of ups and downs. We finished the season with a disappointing 4-12 (1-4 under new ownership). As players go on their offseason vacations and whatnot, the front office is face with the major task of straightening all the bends on the team.
Firstly, we have to address the issue of the offensive line- Heath Joyce was sacked 38 times which is not ridiculously high compared to few other teams, however, we were unable to run the ball successfully due to the lack of run blocking guys at the offensive line position. I can confidently tell you that no one’s job is safe come offseason. We are looking to upgrade talents at this position and will be pursuing players aggressively in the free agency market.
The Secondary is also under construction- Front office has plans laid out to not only pursue great defensive backs in free agency, but also to draft one if available when we select rookies during the draft. With the exception of Daryl Worley, we are not sure that any of the current defensive backs on our roster will be returning next season.
Lastly, we struggled immensely with injuries during the season. Most notably Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey who were injured late in the season, returned in week 15 then got re-injured in the game against the Detroit Lions. This issue we believe has to do with the quality of our trainer, therefore, we are looking to upgrade our trainer in the offseason at any cost.
In conclusion, this was a very mediocre season for a team with so much potential. We look forward to next season when we hope to turn a new leaf.
