Jets defeated the Buccaneers, 38-37. G.Smith powered the winning side with 333 yards and 3 touchdown passes, giving the Jets the kind of offensive edge they needed in a game that demanded answers. When New York had to keep pace, Smith delivered through the air and kept the pressure on throughout. That production ultimately gave the Jets enough to finish on top. The Buccaneers countered with a remarkable night from B.Mayfield, who threw 5 touchdown passes and piled up 460 yards in a losing effort. Tampa Bay generated plenty of offense behind Mayfield’s arm and never lacked for punch. Even so, the Buccaneers came away with a one-point defeat despite one of the game’s biggest individual performances.
