Cardinals Draft Recap
With 2 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders the front office went into the draft with lots of ammo and really only 1 major need, a QB. In a depleted QB class we opted to go BPA with every pick and couldn’t have had a better class.
With our first two picks we took SS Roland Gilbert, a speedy safety, and MLB Mark McLean. McLean was a steal at 18th overall coming out as an X-Factor. In the 2nd round we grabbed our franchise QB in QB Rhett Starr and added depth on our interior defensive line with DT Vincent Vernon. Starr has an absolute cannon of an arm but is a raw prospect that needs some polish.
After a great first two rounds the front office found some steals in the mid-rounds. We went back to back CB taking Mack and McNeill. Both are very raw talents but come into the league as superstar development guys.
The late rounds were nothing to write home about. Some practice squad guys with the potential to contribute as backups.
Overall this was a great draft all around for the team and has set us up well for the future. We’ll look to develop these guys and potentially make a run for the playoffs.
