The State of the Cardinals
We’ve officially hit the mid-season mark and have exceeded expectations thus far. Sitting at 6-2 we are tied for the lead in the division with the rival Seahawks (our next opponent). If we can win that game, it will be huge for our playoff hopes.
The offense has been surprisingly good this season despite having a rookie QB at the helm. We have the 4th ranked scoring offense behind Rhett Starr who’s had to make do with his top wideout missing significant time. He’s completing 64% of his passes for 2,022 yards and 23 TD to 12 INT. Not too shabby for a 2nd round pick.
The defense this year has been much improved from years past. Darian Ashe and Donte Jackson have been lockdown in the secondary forcing 11 turnovers between them. Harvey Wesley and Brian Burns have also had their way with 15 sacks combined. If our rookies MLB Mark McLean, SS Roland Gilbert, and CB Armon Mack can continue to improve this unit could be dominant for the forseeable future.
