What Changed In Seattle?

7 weeks into the new season the 2028 Seahawks have been the XCFL’s most surprising team by far. After a 4-12 campaign in 2027 not much changed for the Seahawks in the offseason. “Last year was rough for all of us but we knew we had all the pieces to be a very good team and that’s why we didn’t make any big moves in the offseason. Sitting here in week 7 it’s looks like all the decisions we’ve made so far have been spot on”- Coach Smach.

So what changed? Why is the same Seahawks team from last year performing so much better? The answer to that question is pretty simple. “We dummied down the offense. Pound the ball with Nick Chubb and let Tyree punish teams over the top when they load the box. It’s simple. We aren’t flashy. We do the simple things” - Coach Smach. It was no secret QB Tyree Jackson was a disappointment last year throwing more interceptions than TDs but he is thriving in the new more simple offense. Tyree has thrown for 1400+ yards and 11 touchdowns while only throwing 5 interceptions. “The offense feels great so far. My receivers always find a way to get open and Chubb is an absolute tank on the ground” - Tyree Jackson.

The key to the offense’s success this year has been veteran RB Nick Chubb. Chubb has rushed for 702 yards and 9 touchdowns in 6 games. He is averaging 117 yards per game and 6.2 yards per carry. “I just run mother f*ckers over. It’s simple. Let me get to the second level and it’s over” - Nick Chubb. Once defenses load the box the strong wide receiver core can’t be stopped. With 3 wide receivers who are medium to deep threats defenses can not afford to not have over the top safety help.

Through 6 games the Seahawks offense ranks 3rd in points per game at 33.8. 5th in offensive yards at 2133 and 4th in points scored at 203. In week 8 the Seahawks will get their toughest test of the year against the powerhouse out of Tampa Bay. “It’ll be a tough one but our guys don’t quit. We know we can win any game we play in. We are excited to have a chance to make everyone around the league realize we are for real” - Coach Smach.
