SCCF — League Rules
1) NO custom playbooks : pre-made playbooks such as “Run Heavy, West Coast, etc” are accepted.
2) 48 Hour advance periods : you will have 48 hours (2 days) to play your game against your opponent. We will be utilizing a 24 hours schedule period. Meaning, reach out to your opponent via group chat and DM to schedule a time to play. If one person reaches out to the other and gets no response, it is up to the person who put the effort in what they want to do. Just asking for minimal engagement in the chat please and be respectful that there are people in different time zones and work schedules.
3) Keep the league chat clean as possible : If you get offended please speak up so we can address the issue. Don’t be the guy in the chat that everybody hates.
4) NO playing CPU games : In case of a CPU opponent, you will be given a forced win or loss based on your team’s situation (tanking teams are allowed to ask for a FL – see rule #18 about tanking for more details).
5) NO trading with CPU teams.
6) All trades need to be submitted for approval by the commissioners ; Approval takes 3 “yes” votes. Denial needs 3 “no” votes. If your trade is denied, you can ask for a reason why, but do not expect to get more information than who is giving too much or not enough in the trade. Some situations may vary. It will be up to you to re-negotiate from that point. Criteria used to determine trade balance are as follows:
Development Level of player
Age of Player
Player overall
Contract status
In the case of using draft picks in trades, the trade committee will try to evaluate what kind of player that pick normally gets in the draft. For example, top 5 first round pick, can normally get a 76+ overall Superstar player if people do their homework in the draft class.
7) NO playmaker is to be used : If you use playmaker (game will say user playmaker if it is used), you are to punt the ball to your opponent on the next play. Penalty will be applied as per rule #19 (rule breaking)
8) Position changes :
Cornerbacks and Safeties are interchangeable regardless of speed ;
An off-ball linebacker (MLB/OLB with pass coverage or run stopper archetype) may not be moved to DE and cannot be used at RLE/RRE ;
WR to TE: receiver has to be 86 speed or less, at least 6’ tall and 200+ lbs to be moved to TE ;
A player may be moved to whatever position they have also played IRL (ex. Cordarrelle Patterson from HB to WR, Isaiah Simmons from LB to S, Tre’mon Smith from CB to HB, etc.). Proof needs to be provided for these specific cases ;
A safety may be moved to LB if he has 86 speed or less and has played the position IRL (ex. box safeties as Brian Branch, Ronnie Harrisson, etc.).
9) In case of a disconnect, if you are down by 21 or more in the second half, the winning team can choose to take a FW. If disconnect occurs in the first half, game is to be replayed unless other arrangements are agreed upon by both users.
10) If you are lagging, pause the game and inform your opponent immediately. Be respectful. If you are having issues early and would like to start the game over again, ask to do so. If both users agree to continue, then it is what it is.
11) Quitting before the game ends (dashboarding) : If you are losing in the 4th quarter and would like to concede the game, that is fine, but be sure to check with other user first. If you quit a game before the 4th quarter, you will be penalized. If you quit in the 1st half, you will be removed from the league.
12) If you are winning by 21 or more in the second half, you HAVE to turn the Chew Clock mechanic on. If the score is over 21 in the first half, you are not required to chew clock, but again, be respectful of your opponent. If the score differential is less than 21 points, you cannot use the chew clock mechanic.
13) Play calling rule : Cooldown for offense is set at 4 plays and playcall limit is set at 20. Cooldown for defense is set at 2 plays and there is no playcall limit. Please don't be that guy who runs cheese all game because you will be penalized for cheesing and possibly get the boot.
14) Minimum of 3 pass rushers at all times. A QB spy does not count as a pass rusher.
15) Fourth Down rule* : You can go for it on fourth down if you are at or closer to your opponent’s endzone than your own 40 yard line and it is 4th and 3 or less. You can fake a punt or field goal from anywhere on the field. There is no 4th down rule in the 4th quarter. Additionally, you are allowed to go for it anywhere on the field if you are down by 14 or more. You are NOT allowed to go for it if you are up by 14 or more, that includes fakes.
*Playoffs fourth down rule : The 4th quarter rule is consistent as the regular season rules with the exception of when you are losing the game. If you are losing by 10 or more in the playoffs, you are allowed to go for it anywhere on the field.
16) SUB LB RULE : Any player found being subbed at LB from safety or CB with 87 speed or above will be penalized!! 1st offense is a warning, 2nd offense is a trait loss, and 3rd offense is -10 speed and -10 acceleration for said player.
17) Points system : For any questions about the points system please refer to the points system list (APS Shop). Also, points reset after week 1 of next season, so please use them and keep your team competitive! You can carry-over up to 4 unused points into next season.
18) Tanking Rule : Too many FLs will result in trait losses:
4-5 FLs = Star → Normal
6-8 FLs = Superstar → Normal
9-11 FLs = XF → Star
12 + FLs = All of the above or removal from the league
Excused FLs will not count but that doesn’t mean come up with some BS to try and get it excused.
19) Breaking rules :
- 1st offense is a warning (this step may be skipped depending on the severity of the situation)
- 2nd offense is trait taken (XF to star or SS to normal)
- 3rd offense is 2 traits taken (XF to star or SS to normal) or expulsion depending on various factors
20) A player that’s been chosen for trait regression due to a rule break cannot be traded. They may be let go in Free Agency.
21) Practice Squad stealing is allowed : It is turned off for the first 2 weeks of regular season, then it’s fair game for everyone.
